L.A.T. Newsletter

by Brenda McCormick

May/June 1999

Well, it's been at least a year for all of us now, and I don't know about you, but change seems to be the only constant.  U S WEST has announced  a merger, the gang in michigan just got confirmation of the pipeline, terminal and retail stores sales and shut down of the Alma Refinery. Some of us are already transitioning to second and third jobs since Total - like Kris Card whose current employer is moving it's operations out of state. On a personal note, my firstborn just turned 21 and is relocated to Florida as I write. So it goes!
Speaking of change, here's some of the new stuff I know.
Jim McCoy called me recently to comment on the newsletter. He is enjoying Tulsa and his job at Citgo. He also passed along the very surprising news that Mr. Valot has left Total and gone to work for an engineering firm. Linda Weber is back to work, downtown for the Polk Company. Some big changes are on the way for some people. Consider these  unconfirmed rumors because I have not talked to either of these people recently. Came from good sources though. Denise (Mitchell) Ehler is expecting a baby as is Carol VanLaw. Carol hasn't been at Total for a while, but I'm sure many of you will remember her from the treasury department. Carol was married last summer. Linda Williams, who transferred to San Antonio over a year ago, added a little Texan to her family last May. They have obviously had a year full of changes too. Linda was wondering if anyone knows the whereabouts of Ernie Lefebvre. If so, please let me know so that I can pass the information along. Sandi Freir is getting ready to play "mother of the bride". Daughter, Ami will be married June 26th here in Denver.
I run into David Scarbeary, Todd Staebell, Kris Ciccolo and Tom Vibber in the lobby at U S WEST on occasion. Some of you will remember Tom from the Alma days and the early years in Denver. Donna Wonder, Dave Seargraves and I cross paths sometimes as we're headed for busses or light rail at the end of the day. Have also seen Kathy & Tim Lawrence on the mall at lunch time, and Clair Burch on my way to the bus. Those of you who remember Kermit Hoffert, also from the very early Denver days will be saddened, as I was , to learn that he die din April. Don't know any details , except he was very young (around my age!). If anyone has more information, please let me know the circumstances. Dick Dana learned from Gary Jones that John Fawke also passed away recently. With all due respect, does anyone besides me remember that fowl smelling pipe tobacco he smoked?!
Carol Mellinger called as I was planning this newsletter and filled me in on a few more people. Kip Joda is working for an oil company downtown and Kim Goodwin is still with Beta West. Catherine Pyle will be certified to teach elementary school in June and will probably teach in Denver. Sheila Atwell is at Berger Mutual Funds. Bill Bettag says "never a dull moment" at J.D. Edwards. He hears from Mike Bugh once in awhile. He's at Corporate Express in Broomfield, as is Gail Walkenhorst. Catrina (Valdez) Lucero is at Western Gas. Georgia Sweeney took the time to write me a letter after receiving the last newsletter. She's working with her husband in their executive search firm, Hallmark Personnel. She has kept in touch with Lynn Cogburn, who got married last July, and also with Rodger Evans who is at TCI.
Ross Marzolf responded to the premier edition of the newsletter with a promise to fill me in on what's up with him. So Ross, what's up? Derek Mooneyham suggested a list of e-mail addresses so those of you who've transcended snail mail can keep in touch. If you've provided an e-mail address that you don't want shared, please let me know. Otherwise, I will work on pulling together all the e-mail addresses that I have for distribution in the near future.
This should be my last snail mail edition. My new computer will be at least purchased, if not up and running, before I head for Higgins Lake and two weeks of sunshine, clear blue water and ice cold beer!
Have a great summer, keep in touch, or, or if you don't want to hear all this stuff - like one person who shall remain nameless, let me know. Here's how to contact me:
