L.A.T. Newsletter
by Brenda McCormick
May/June 2000

I've heard from and seen a number of people since the last newsletter, so here's the scoop. Saturday, May 6th a group of people gathered at the Morrison Inn to say farewell to Bev O'Toole, who is moving to Phoenix, Arizona.  Well wishers included Janet & Bob Haaker, Beth & Lew Visscher, Linda Weber and hubby Craig, Cliff & Tracy Adcock (who have moved back to Colorado), Denise & Jay Ehler, Dick Dana, Tommy Berry, Doug Kerner, Doug & Pat Mast, Scott & Kelly Topham, Tony & LeAnn Jones and yours truly and husband Jerry.

Cathy Patterson (she's at Commercial Bank as are Marcy Bellinger, Ann Warner and Sherri Downing) passed along news of some Alma people that I'll share.  Ray Simcox is enjoying retirement and has been traveling, Jim Johnston is selling insurance, Lala Threloff is at Gratiot Community Hospital, Deb Caszatt, Max Capen and Doreen Rockafellow are all at Central Michigan University. Several people are now working at the prisons in St. Louis, Carolyn Struble, Lisa Price, Luci Christensen, Becky Peak and Ann Sebring.

Denise Beisel reports she's done some consulting and lots of volunteer work at her daughter's school.  Cliff & Tracy Adcock as mentioned above have moved back to ColoradoTracy is at CH2M Hill and Cliff is the new General Manager with Willary Petroleum Corporation.  I'm told that Diane Garner recently took a cruise to Antarctica, Sandi Freier is the office manager for a chiropractor in Golden, Dave Graham is still with Cap Gemini and travels quite often, and Bill Bettag is getting involved in international benefits for JD Edwards and had to travel to Sydney, Australia (tough trip Bill!)  Bill was among the group that turned out for our February get-together as were Kay Chavez and Tina Stahl, just to name a few of the not-so-regulars at those events.

On a recent Saturday, I ran into Mike Brown and then Susan Richardson.  I also ran into Keith Lammey on the street in downtown Denver when he was in town to visit his family a few months back.  He's the Director of Credit for Allegiance Healthcare Corporation in Albuquerque, NM. Todd Staebell and I cross paths on occasion at U S WEST and also Kris Ciccolo.   Some of you recently received this information from David Scarbeary but for those of you newly added to the distribution, David is putting the newsletters out on a web site and here's the address to access those http://www.users.uswest.net/~dscar/LAT9910.htm.  Steve Nicholson, Ron Klump and Larry Holzman all checked in recently.  Steve and Ron are both still at Katy Industries.  Larry is back with UDS and was moving from KC to San Antonio in early April.  Some bad news to report as well this time around.  Bob Keppler told me that Mike King died in January from cancer of the esophagus.

As I anxiously await the U S WEST/Qwest merger and fervently pray for a severance package, I'm also planning my vacation, which means the next newsletter will probably be in August.  If there's lots to share and time permits I may talk to you before that.  If not, have a great summer and keep in touch!
